Title: Pictures from Tornado damage in Birmingham....
Post by: amims5 on May 02, 2011, 08:18:17 AM
We were in a hard hit area of Birmingham yesterday to help with a church that had been affected. Pictures nor video prepare you for what it is like being there to see the devastation. It is heart breaking to see the power and destruction of the twister that hit. The scene is unlike anything I have ever witnessed. There are cadaver dogs and rescue crews searching through what is left over. It is something I will never forget. I know it has been asked, but please continue to remember these people in your prayers. I have never been more appreciative for my wife and kids and the things God allows me to enjoy, and the things he keeps me from. It will take years to recover from it, but the countless volunteers and national guard are working around the clock. It is really a site to see all these complete strangers helping one another. I don't wish that on anyone, but it sure will give you a different perspective on life.

I still remember the Tornado's of 1974 that hit this area really hard. Although I was young them, it's a site I will remember all my life. I can just  *prayer* pray for the people that were effected by these recent storms for a speedy recovery.

This was just south of Pleasant Grove, about a mile outside of Hueytown. It's unreal. I was speaking with the pastor and he mentioned the tornados of 1974.

this weekend while in the woods north of Chattanooga, I started finding items from the storms. Some of them were from Arab Alabama, Fife Alabama, and Scottsboro Alabama. Arab is a solid three hour drive from where I was. There wee stock cirtificates---3 of them and personal mail that was never opened and even checks that have not been run.
The storms there were devistating and we do as Adam asks---keep these folks in our prayers

Just think how most of us sweat the small stuff in our lives. God bless these people who have lost loved ones and everything around them.
