Title: Finally out of the slump

Got a chance to go with a buddy this morn to his homeplace in N Alabama---he called and said he had been seeing a couple of longbeards at the base of the mountain near his house----the gig was on. We had no idea where they roosted,so we waited as long as we could this morning until we had to get moving. The second time we stopped I pulled out Bob Fulchers (sHADETREE) LONGBOX and hit it---he immediatlly hit...we moved a few more yards and checked em again with it and again---he let us know he heard the paddle. We closed the distance and sat down about 15 yds apart as the bird was below us. Clucked and he was there and willing. Grabbed my Glenn Marrer Glass and ole Steve Torman's Black Locust striker and started runing the pot----he began to close. He had another bird dragging up behind, and there were jakes and a pile of hens. One got to clucking loudly and seemed that she would never shut up. Bewteen me mocking her and her---the ole gobbler got confused....he went back and forth a couple of times before he made the BAD mistake of getting too close to my gun. I told my buddy he was there----but he couldnt see the bird at all. We let him walk around looking a little, but it soon became time to close the deal before things went south. That closses my Alabama season as this hunt punched my last tag....cant wait till next season there already !!!

It was 35 degrees this morning. I wore insulated camo coveralls and snakeboots rubber boots. *lol*
It's still a might damp up here.

Ya get the stank and the black florida swamp goop out of them snakeboots?  *lol*

That's a great turkey bud ! Congratulations on yet another successful hunt . What are ya gonna do after the seasons close ? I bet you will go stir crazy until next spring ! I am glad to see that you are giving my old fencepost caller a good workout . I think these are the best pics you have got so far this year too . Might have something to do with that mystery-stained canarywood , LOL !!  Awesome job my friend !!! At least those Alabama birds can get a rest now that you are tagged out .

Nice bird!  Don't let them give ya too much of a hard time about them purrty boots....when they finally step on a goodun or feel that "WHUMP" up the side of their leg...they will be believers too. Besides, jealousy is just plain ugly  8) *lol*
