Well here are some pics of the turkeys that rode home with me last weekend . I shot the first one at 7:45 a.m. after I called him around another hunter who set up close to me . I could hear his terrible calling across the hill from me and I listened as the turkey gobbled his way in to me , just by-passing the other guy ! Then he made his appearance in the pasture with me . I struck this bird on my ET Calls shortbox by Ed Terefenko, and closed the deal with a nice glass caller made by Brian Aliff ( gotta get another one from him ) ! I had the video rolling as he came across the pasture straight to me . I got the whole hunt on HD video with perfect lighting conditions . He weighed in at 25.5 lbs. has a 10 5/8 " ponytail beard and 1 1/16 " spurs on both legs . I incuded a pic of the landowners son dragging my bird back home ! He is a great liitle kid who keeps me occupied in camp !
The very next morning I went back to my original setup but no birds were near me . So I went on a walk-about looking for a suicidal turkey . I ran into him about 8:30 a.m. after I let out a few soft yelps on one of my fencepost callers . He triple gobbled at me from 50 yds away and I immediately sat down and pulled up my face mask. I stroked 2 more yelps and a purr/cluck on the fencepost and he gobbled again at about the same time I could see his fan flare up behind a log . After a few seconds of watching the top of his fan come up then go down , I told him to stretch his neck up and look for me ! When he did I filled his face with Winchester extended range 6's and he did the Remington back-flip , then never made another move ! This one weighed in at 24.5 lbs. and sported a 10 " beard and 1" spurs .
It was a great weekend in KY but now I am out of tags for Ky !(http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz308/shadetreecallers/ky12011.jpg)(http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz308/shadetreecallers/ky12011tyler.jpg)(http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz308/shadetreecallers/ky22011.jpg)(http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz308/shadetreecallers/ky22011fencepost.jpg)

That fella told the landowner that he watched me with binoculars the whole time . He said he wanted to be close to me so he could learn how to call them better , LOL ! Like I would know anything about callin' turkeys . Well I did pull the hen around him somehow and he watched his gobbler die at my hands instead of his . Lucky day for me , that's for sure . Kind of spooky knowing I was being watched from a distance .
