I just moved a topic (the Call Parlor one) that I've been notified about. I have NOT read it, so I'm not sure what is going on. Right now I'm too busy to take the time and read it, so I'm not sure if it has anything in it or not.
I DO NOT like to hamper the First Amendment so I'm just letting everyone know I moved it and just with several people notifying me, that's why!
Sorry but right now I just have bigger things on my mind

Mike,
Don't worry about it, you have other concerns. However, that topic needs aired, about time some things come to light around here. Somebody has been wearing their shoes in the house and its starting to stain the rug so to speak. ;) 8) And it aint Chad.

Well, my hat's off to ol' Bulldog for havin' the insight & foresight to bring the topic up; & out in the open; in the 1st place ... *cheers*
... maybe some posters need to go back to the early Parlor threads, & take a look at the "types of calls" that made "the Parlor" a true stand out on this forum, & on turkey call forums in general (as Mike pointed out) ... ;)

Thanks Jim, I love the Parlor. It allowed us to see calls that we otherwise would not have know even existed.

For sure. I've seen calls there I couldn't imagine existed, seen calls that are stunning in creativity, craftsmanship, and beauty. It may be my favorite place on the internet to stop and visit. I really appreciate collectors taking the time to snap a photo, upload it, and write about the call on that forum.

As a collector, just my 2 cents. No one really knows who or what may be the next call or call maker, to become collectable...and as was said, many are very proud of the calls they make and/or collect. I too, enjoy seening calls I don't normally have the chance to view. Mike made a valid point about the older calls we have all seen on here. That said, and after thinking about it, I don't see why everyone can't or shouldn't be proud of their collection no matter what it may include. Not everyone will have a Cost, Gibson, Turpin, Lynch or other highly prized or sought after call. This is suppose to be a fun and informative area....not one for bickering and put downs. There are already plenty of forums that do just that, already!
Keep it fun guys!

Very good post Bill.

Great point Bill . Not everyone can obtain "rare" calls . To some collectors , a 3-hole Lynch boxcall may be the pride of their collection , whereas A very few collectors may have a one-off Neil Cost caller . They are all worthy of showing off to the rest of the members here . :grouphug:

Let me start by saying, Bill, you have one awesome collection from what I've seen. Great post and this is not directed in any manner towards you.
My collection of calls is nothing like Bill's. And I seriously doubt anyone else's is. My collection consist of modern day calls. I don't have any Cost boxes. I don't have any L.F. Cox trumpets. I don't have any Heglar or Farmer trumpets. But what I do have is just as important to me as anyone else's. If I get ready to post a picture of my calls, that's where it's going. Nothing historical about them. There maybe something historical about them in 20 years or so. But that's is where they are going until Porter says different.

Amen, pass the gravy ;)

I must be missing something? *stu*
What difference does it make where someone talks about a call of some sort or another? Isn't this a turkey hunt'n and call make'n or collect'n forum? I could see where some might raise their eyebrows if someone would post a skelton key collection or start discussing antique tractors and fill the forum up with tractor pics,,,,, But one persons opinion of a collectable call verses anothers? Or what line they post the pictures on?
What's happening to this forum?
*fall*
Here at Osage Roost, there are not very many rules. I wish I could say I only have one and that's to have fun. Unfortunately, being on the Net, we had to have some and they are pretty clear cut. Picture sitting around the campfire with your buddies having a blast. That's the perfect picture of what I want to have happen here!

So If I have a call.. say from Marlin that I am not gonna hunt with but is a special collected call for MY Collection...Where exactly do I post it...I only have less than 20 calls from others that I dont hunt with....Is that a collection? *fall* I dont get it...Not everyone has rare calls, but i am sure what they have they are proud of!!!

Have at it guys....do as you please .....I was just trying to keep that board unique....if your calls are that special post away! It was simply a point of view....gosh, one simple post and I am a villan! Thanks

Mike, I don't think your a villain. I saw every post on this subject including the ones that got pulled. I understand your concerns about the posting of the parlor. I thought as you did, it was for those rare, you'll never own calls. With that said it's not that big of an issue to me what gets posted there, I figured if it was in the wrong thread a MODERATOR would move it. After all that's what their for right?
It's just a shame that some adolescents on this site took your posting as a chance to bash another member. Even to go as low as bringing up someones past and posting it on a open forum. As a call maker and a member of this forum, I found his postings very distasteful. I didn't post much on this before today because I don't like getting caught up in the childish BS.
That' my 2 cents worth.

Mike, I don't think anyone is trying to make you a villan here. Where do you post a collection of calls???? I mean seriously. I posted my Supreme collection there. Have I hunted with those calls? Yes! Every single one of them. Does that make them not worthy of going in the Call Collectors portion of this forum? I don't think so. Where else am I to post them? I've even got some of them in my vest to hunt with this year...... I personally, don't have much use for a call that I can't hunt with. I'm not going to give $1700 for a Zack Farmer trumpet just to sit on a shelf and have a one time post in the Call Collector's Parlor. What is collectable? What may be to you, may not be to me. Personally, I like to see the finish worn off by me and not some one else 50 years ago.
