Title: Tick Repellent
Post by: Trophy_Taker on March 07, 2011, 04:51:09 PM
What are you guys using?  I've been scouting my new area and it's loaded.  Everytime I come out I pull about 10 or 12 of those little blood suckers off.

I use a good dose of Ben's 100.  It is in a squeeze bottle so you can load up your clothes with it.  I pour it on my collars, cuffs, waist band and shirt bottoms, then I put some on my hand and rub into my shirt and pants.

Never heard of it. Where do you get it and do you have a brand name?

Buy it in the spray can at Wallyworld or the sportings goods store of your choice. Common brand name is Repel.

That also works great at keeping yellow jackets off the hummingbird feeder.

Matt, permethrin is the active chemical..put on clothes ONLY and dry completely before wearing..ticks and redbugs  won't make it more than a few inches crawling on it...it is used to treat livestock for external parasites...don't know what the adverse affect on humans is, if any. Be sure to treat any seat cushion as well as boots and hat...ticks are a thing of the past if you use it according to directions. Some outlets have quit carrying it because of people not reading directions and putting it on bare skin like regular bug juice.

That's the stuff you want, right there.  Spray it on, let the clothes air dry for a few hours and it lasts for days and days.  Ticks will fall off your clothes, literally.  Do a google search about it, its the only thing the military uses.

I worked for 7 years in the Pest Control industry. This stuff can be very bad if you don't follow the directions! Please let it dry before putting it on or you WILL become very sick and it could prove costly  :ghost:

It works great but treat it like a table saw- use with caution  ;)
