Title: Prototype laminate call on Ebay
Post by: longbeard48 on February 25, 2011, 10:24:16 PM
I've been wanting to build this call for awhile, and finally I decided to buy a block of laminate and try one.  Tha drawback is that you have to cut the block diagonally in order to get the colors to really show, and that makes for a wasteful situation.  My scratch boxes are normally made from four pieces of wood, but I'm going to have to make these from six pieces.  They sound good, but take a lot of work!

Ordered a big batch of laminated wood today.  This stuff is awesome, but it is fairly expensive.  Soon I will have many of the popular gunstock colors plus a few "girly" colors.

I doubt that, Mike, to me they appear to be a little "commercial,"  but they grow on you, that's for sure.  I once said I wouldn't have a gun with a laminated stock, but now I have three or four; they won't warp and they don't scratch easily.
