Title: a Mineral Poplar in the final stages
Post by: jmck on February 06, 2011, 10:12:27 AM
here is another one I am almost finished up with . It some mineral stained poplar that looks like it has some spalting in it, but I dont think its spalting ---its some fine wood. The mystery guy ??? ROTFLMBO that sent it wanted a plain sider from it so here it is. This one is close to being done for sure. Like the sound already on both sides...if I dont tinker it tone dead it should ship out soon.
Thanks for the wood

Guys I thought it was Spalted as well. But I got these boards the week the logger cut them green and he he said that it was kike that in that batch of trees. If you see it up close and cut into it you will see that it is probably not Spalting. It is verigated grain color....may be some type of spalting not really sure. I know some of it is absolutly beautiful!
Very hard for poplar!

That is some very nice looking poplar! However it got that way, either form mineral content in the soil or another explanation, it sure made for some cool looking wood! Nice job!! *up*
