this will be my first fall chasing turks. i was always a deer man but im going to do both this year and I can not wait.
how many calls do you guys take with ya?
I plan on traveling light: box call,a suction call of some sort and a mouth call

I'll have a cane yelper or trumpet and the latest call Al just posted. That's it for me!
Light and agile is the way I go!

Dang, Redneck, you forgot the most important thing, although it's not a call, it come's in mighty handy when needed.. Some good ol' Charmin!!! ;D

I prefere Red Oak leaves Thank You the ones that aint dried out, works just as well and cuts down on the overhead.

I carry a bunch of calls in the fall.....Ya never know what turkey bunch, you'll run into, so.....
A tube call, a couple friction calls, usually a slate and glass or aluminum, a box call, two paddle calls, a gobbler wing bone, a trumpet and or a wingbone made with jenny hen bones and a mouthful of mouth calls......Usually of Denny Gulvas or Danny Whitt vintage......Ghost cuts and straight 2.5 reed

Wow I think I go too light Zips... that's a good point though. With what I carry, if I run into a group of toms... I'm kind of in trouble, but I know the farm and know where the hens generally run.
Although I did call a tom up last year to a kee kee run... he came right to me.

This year i think ill go lighter... Couple of mouth calls, a longbox, shortbox, wingbone, slate call, and a glass or an aluminum... Wait, thats alot more than last year! ROTFLMBO

If I'll be hunting alone :
1) ''Tennessee Hen'' ,,,,wingbone
2) homespun trumpet,,,,deer antler mouthpiece,,,makes perty good gobbler clucks and yelps
3) mouthcall ,,,will make every call both hen and tom
Hunting with someone :
1) walnut box
2) Wilson custom box
3) ''Tennessee Hen'
4) trumpet
5) custom purpleheart pot'n'peg
6) mouthcalls
7) booted wing from last falls gobbler

In the past its just been a diaphragm or 2 and once in a while I'd take a pot call. This year its going to be a trumpet, diaphragm or 2 and sometimes a slate. A box would be nice but I don't have a good one.

I cannot use a diaphragm worth a hoot... can't really kee kee on a pot either :( Box calls are my primary use and I'm trying to learn on a trumpet. Slowly but surely I'm getting there.

For years I used a Longbox that had a very good Kee Kee on the high end. Last year I used one of my copper through call some soft yelps and clucks is all it took. I think that any call that can make a good kee kee is the KEY!!!

Got me calls together... Slaton trumpet, Kee-er, two boxes, and a pot... I'm ready to go! Rain in the morning, but I'm going to try and get out (unless the tornadoes they are calling for become a reality!!!)
