I just bought this gun for my lil darling today. Any suggestions on a decient load for this one?
She is 12, so nothing to gnarly please. I want her to kinda ease into it from the .410 she has been using.

Richard I have a ton of shells you can have to get started with :) They are mainly all lead shells, but I do not shoot them anymore!
They are all 3" loads.
I know several people shoot 2 3/4 loads at birds too. Choke wise, I'm not sure :( I only have shot Remingtons in the 20...

How's the recoil on these lil ones? Looking for something for the boy!

These little mossberg 20's are a sweet little gun. For youth or otherwise. I bought one for my elderly father and I love it. I went with a Pure Gold choke in .570. Not quite as tite as the .555 and more foregiving up close. I also set it up to shoot 3" hevishot #7. It is a 40 yard gun no doubt. But with the lite gun and 3" it does have a punch. Not a bad kick....more of a hard punch. To tame the recoil I would think along the lines of a 2 3/4 shell in #6. Anything in the harder than lead shot will help alot. I do believe tho that if you kept your shots into 25 yards or less (maybe even 30?) a 2 3/4 low brass #7 would do the job. A good friend just had some serious neck surgery but wants to try to hunt this spring so I am going to tinker with that. Low brass/ lots of shot / keep the shots close.

Federal makes 2 3/4 heavyweight 7s. They would be awesome out of a factory full.
