Post by: Dragonfly on January 22, 2011, 06:28:14 PM
Hunt turkeys in the spring if they didn't gobble???  And why?

Me.... I probably wouldn't.  Its all about the gobble.

Yeah, Id still hunt them, you bet I would. Those quite birds make it even harder to find them but thats the chess match Ill play anytime.LOL. If they didnt gobble Id still go for the fan and strut show!

I like to hear them gobble myself, if they didn't gobble, it be like still hunting for deer with no corn, just getting lucky every once in a while.........

Yep. Wouldn't be much fun without the gobble.

Yep, I'm after them year round with the camera. Gobble or no gobble, they are a beautiful animal and they are worthy of my time in pursuit  *cheers*

Plus, people hunt squirrels, rabbits, quail, pheasant, deer, bear, elk, mule deer, etc.... and they don't gobble  ;D

Heck yes I'd hunt them. My birds are some times 50/ 50  gobbling coming in. I don't pass the shot  up for not gobbling  *peep*Don't get me wrong the gobble gets my blood pressure up . RkLu

Although the Gobble is a pure rush, I would still hunt them if I could, Ther would still be that challenge if not even greater. If you have ever hunted Gobblers strictly in the fall it will give you an idea!

ahhh..... lets face it.... it was the gobble the most likely got your interest and lead you to the sport. Yes, you'd still hunt them now, after knowing what we know but would we have even started if it were not for the gobble. :-\

Yes...I still would, although the gobble is intense!!  I hunt them in the fall without them gobbling a lot of the times.

Lets face it hunters still hunt for elk even after the bugling season is over and the rewards of getting one are still great!
That's how I feel about turkey hunting too.  RkLu

I most likely still would. I do like to still hunt during deer season and I would probably do the same for turkeys if they didn't gobble. BUT, there is just nothing that compares to a thunderous gobble that makes your chest vibrate  *gobble*

Yes, Sir...........

Heck, we can go a bunch of days here in PA w/ the pressure our birds get and know more then likely, your not going to hear a gobble....

Scouting is the difference...... Ain't no difference then fall gobbler hunting

 Jason

The last time my wife and I hunted in PA, we hunted gobblers that had been hunted so hard, you couldn't get them to even shock gobble. We both took gobblers in a three day hunt.....but had to dodge hunters, coyotes, and bears. Not much fun and hard hunting.....but any day in the woods beats a day behind the desk!

As tough as the birds are, here in PA, if we didn't hunt them when they didn't gobble, we wouldn't be hunting much! *up*

Jason I would knowing what I know now... now I have to wonder, if they didn't gobble when I started would you???  Got me to thinking...  heck I think I still would.  I love the sounds of the Spring and you sure cannot harvest one staying in the house  *cheers*
