Title: Walnut and Butternut parquet

This call was sort of retro on my part because its been awhile since I have built this style. This call is more of a tribute to all the call makers out there (and here) who constantly inspire me.  And if you see some of your self in here somewhere consider that "imitation is the most sincere sort of flattery"!  ;D So Thank you!
 
A solid butternut body with heavyily figured walnut end caps and maple spacers. The base is beautifully figured as well.  The lid is walnut with nice grain and color. Just a touch of elk antler in the handle. The call breaks nicely with lots of rasp on the back end.

Dave from Blackfalcon is right, a very nice balance of woods and colors.  You seem fortunate to have some great figured woods in many of your calls.  You always produce some very nice looking calls with great craftsmanship and it is an inspiration for me to see your work.  I might not have thought you would get two good hens with that knot running through the right rail, but glad to hear it works.  You did well to keep it toward the front to ensure a good break and yawk on the back side.  Anyone would be proud to tuck that into their vest this spring.

Thanks for the kind words from everyone.  The figured wood is always a challenge but I enjoy that part of the process.  Getting the that killer turkey sound is always first priority tho.  Who was it said "If it don't sound like turkey it's gotta sound like firewood"????? but after the that...no one said they have to be ugly! ;)
