got a piece of mistery wood from a fella...he nor i have no idea what it is thought some of you may be able to help...

it is not a very heavy dense wood but the grain is pretty tight...has bout the same weight to it as spanish cedar he sent...thanks

To tell you the truth it's really hard to see what the wood looks like in that picture.

First glance I say Poplar, but it is hard to say!

it has a greenish yellow color to it...he sent ome poplar to but it didnt feel the same t me..i will get some better pics up tomorrow

Looks like poplar to me, too. How hard is it? Can you imprint it with your thumbnail? Try sanding it smooth to get a better look at the grain, then smell it. Then sand a known piece of poplar a little bit and smell that.

i will check it in the morn...the block and call are from the same piece of wood...if that matters...

i checked against a piece of poplar...i believe that is what it is...of some sort or may have some staining to it....it had a void in the middle of the blank when i cut it...looked to be a knot hole or some sort of internal rotting....dont know....thanks guys *up*
