I watched the demo of this guy playing the call, it's with the listing. I think I missed something! *peep* Roc *up* *up*

Doug was a regular fixture at the Unicoi show in GA each Fall. He was a kind man who knew turkeys and turkey calls. After he passed it was different not seeing him at the show each year. His book on turkey hunting is among my favorites.
The caller in the listing isnt being played to its potential... Dont hold it against Doug's work...

Like Chad said, Doug was a great individual and friend. He also attended the Sportsman Show in Richmond, Va. every year. He made really good turkey calls and any chance you have to get one of his calls....do so! *up* *up* *up*

I think you misunderstood what I was getting at. I know Mr. Camp made some fine boxes. I didn't mean any disrespect to him. It's this guy playing it. I don't think he knows what he is doing. You can even tell it needs to be chalked. This guy playing it is a joke! Roc

Don't think it is a joke...............but it is pretty poor! *fall* *fall* *fall* *aah* *wha*

I'm no call master by no means and only have one longbox, but my 4 year old daughter could do better! Nice call, wish I had a money tree out back!
-
That feller didn't do that call justice at all. Mine SURE don't sound like that!

Greg that's a beautiful call!!! I've heard nothing but great things about Doug's callers!!!
-
The guy playing Doug's call sure did that call a major misjustice!! *aah*
-
Yep pretty bad
-
Agreed...did that call an injustice for sure.
-
It's at $365 right now with 4 hours left.
Is that typical for one of his long boxes?
And that video was terrible. You just want it to stop.

Price is simply what someone is willing to pay. Based on E-Bay it would appear that Doug's calls have drastically increased in price since he passed away. Only a few short years ago he sold them for far less than that...

I know just a couple years ago you could pick one up for about $100, I was surprised to see to pushing $400.

I agree with you. Ever since E-Bay started hiding bidders identities I've been a bit uneasy with the sales prices of many calls.
-
You have every right to be suspicious -- here's the bidder list:

I was in Co-op in Lynchburg, TN last spring buying a chainsaw. On the endcap next to the cash register, they had a few calls, gloves, facemasks, and other turkey hunting related items. Some of the stuff had been there for a few years it looked like. I was surprised to see that a Doug Camp Unfair Advantage box call was sitting there brand new in the box for $25. Best $25 dollars I ever spent. Thing is 100% turkey.

That call finished this afternoon at $425.

The same bidder just bought four more calls, if you see him on the list you might as well not bid you won't touch him.
Jon
-
That bidder has been jacking up the price on callers for the past year. He will pay more for a call off the bay then what it would cost to order from the callmaker! Either he has a lot of money or several maxed out credit cards! *lol*
-
Yes Sir if you want to see a shocker look at the bid he has on Whitt's longbox.
Jon

Whitt will be very happy for that sale. It is nice to see a callmaker get a huge price for a caller. He purchased a Jesse Hayes caller for $425 today. There are 4 bidders that are competing against each other to purchase callers off the bay in recent months!

I think they just get off on the bidding aspect of it. Roc *up* *up*

I have a dozen or more Of Jess Hayes' calls. I never paid more than $40 for a slate or boxcall, and I have gotten a beard with most all of them. Someone really wanted that call , to have run the price so high. Doug camp's longboxes are really great sounding calls but that fella paid twice what it is worth in today's market. I wish I had his number , I would sell him a few calls !!
-
Wow. $800...

Yeah, and all it took was for Neil Cost to just quit making calls and the prices skyrocketed. You could get those for $75.00.
I wish I had bought one of Doug's longboxes back when I had a chance. I do have an Unfair Advantage and as said previously, they are all turkey. I bet Dick Kirby boxes will soar too.
