Title: A REAL memory
Post by: misfire on December 18, 2010, 08:44:24 AM
What can I say? I definitely have the BEST hunting partner there is. Unselfish, loyal, dependable, he is always there no matter what the circumstances. We went to a local swamp this morning, took one of my son's friends with us. The rain kept the birds out of our area, didnt see a thing. Did my buddy complain? Well, not real loud anyhow, but there was some whining. Mainly from me, but he did a fair amount too. Finally, we decided to call it a morning. Unloaded the guns and began our trek out of the swamp. Well, my buddy takes the lead, my son's friend in the middle and me dragging up the rear. All of a sudden, my buddy jumps a crippled mallard hen and the chase is on. My buddy chased that bird all through the swamp, and danged if he didnt catch that bird. Well worth the price of admission. But when he brought the bird to me, I happen to see something on one of the legs. YEP!!!!! But wait, HA, there were two things on the legs. Stonewall got his first two bands of his career, and one of them is GREEN!!!!!!!

Wished I would have gotten that cahse on viceo. Stonewall had to swim through the gauntlett, run across dry land, cross logs and debris, ice skate at one point and still didnt lose sight of this bird as it skimmed across the swamp.

Did NOT fire a shot!!!
Mike,
He is more than a pet, he really is my hunting buddy. If I could get him in a turkey blind with me, I would let him retrieve those as well. Turkey season freaks him out. He knows that when I put on camo, he gets to ride in the truck and do what God intended him to do. But when I make him stay in the house and walk out the door to turkey hunt, he sits on the sofa all day till I return, moping.... ;D
