Title: Potential #2 World Record Black Bear taken in Pa
Post by: etboxcalls on November 19, 2010, 06:37:38 PM
Got this picture  in numerous emails & text messages today.  Don't know the story behind the hunt other than it was shot yesterday 11/18.   Enjoy the picture and just imagine the holy sh*t feeling you'd get if this guy walked up on you in the woods.

"Shot yesterday in Monroe County with a crossbow.

875 Live weight and 744 dressed #2 in the WORLD and a new PA State Record. He missed the world record by 4 pounds......

Sorry guys....I know that is a Trophy and I have Bear Hunted, but that big fellow would have walked with my salute as long as he was not a threat! Something that majestic has my respect! I know....let me have it!

I understand Dylan . Sometimes hunting alone and being pressed for time just won't allow a feller to shoot just any bear . ROTFLMBO

So guys, it turns out that this bear, although not killed illegally, was what one might call a "neighborhood bear." Apparently a guy has been feeding this bear for almost 17 years near his home.  A couple of guys knew about the location of the bear, apparently got it up and moving and put 9 bolts in it from a crossbow.  There was a story on the news last week.  like I said, technically, it wasn't killed illegally, but the ethics of the kill are what are being questioned.  Either way, it was a wild bear, its the #2 black bear in the world, and someone killed a dandy.  Just thought I share what I found out about the story, if anyone knows anything else, please fill us in.  Thanks
