I only had a short time I could get out today, but it was just too nice outside to stay in the shop all day. I headed for the place I hunted a week or so ago to see if I could get even with those turks that crapped on the box cover on my turck the last time I was there. As I was getting my gear ready I thought I heard a hen yelp, listened for a bit but nothing eles followed. I grabbed my gun and headed for the same ridge I set up on last time. I grabbed my Gibson and gave three deep yelps, and a bird answered from just over the ridge, I pulled out Mark's brass liar and gave a couple soft clucks, she answered back and I could hear her in the leaves as she topped the ridge. A couple more soft clucks and she lit up, jabbering all the way along the ridge until she met Mr. Remington. She tipped the scales at 12.8#, and will make a great meal in deer camp next week. I still have a couple tags left to chase longbeards with. The hunt only lasted 19 min from leaving the truck until I got back in it, sometime you just get lucky.
