Yeah I agree. I think the fines were so high due to the fact it was on Federal park land.

Hate poachers!
On the other hand- I don't see any reason why hunting is not allowed there or Yellowstone or a lot of other national parks. It does not make any sense and creates a dangerous environment for anyone visiting the parks outside of what would be a normal hunting season. Animals in National Parks do not fear humans, this is not natural and it's setting up dangerous situations.
I grew up bordering a National Park that allows hunting and it was wonderful. It's only allowed in very limited areas (where the tree huggers are not....)
