ok this may be a dumb ? but here it goes... i have some cedar that was cut and some from a dead cedar that had fell after several yrs when the area was burned...i would think this would be classified as standing dead cedar ??? the main ? is the cut cedar is lighter in color( more pink ) than the dead cedar..is this due to the fact one died naturally and the other was cut or does the wood darken with age? this is an example of what i am talkin bout...the top is from the dead and the bottom was cut live and dryd for bout a yr...

That would be my guess. It sounds logical. Not sure that helps though *lol*

Don't know too much about wood, but I do know that's one fine looking call!! Great job!! Roc *up* *up*

Dead standing usually has a darker tone vs live wood, that was dried.....The sap in the dead standing is gone, giving the wood a darker look....
Where the wood came from on the tree itself has different colors as well.....IE: lower trunk vs upper truck
Notice the growth rings on your lower section vs the upper section....
Very nice looking call RkLu

Beautiful call regardless!
