Title: Wamara/Maple

Well this is the first time I've tried doing a flat sided call. It's a curly maple box with a wamara wood lid. The right side is high pitched, the left is a deeper pitch, it has a good rollover with good rasp and soft chattery purr on both sides. I've always liked the turpin styled flat siders, so I desided to try doing one.

Sure is a nice looking box----saw that wamara amd I immediatlly thought of amara. I like that lid material---real sharp pattern to the grain!!!!

Wamara is a Guyanna Rosewood, that is very dence and heavy. The sapwood is white, the heartwood is purpleish-brown with dark purple streaks. It'll make your tablesaw work pretty hard when cutting. I would think it would be a great wood to turn? It seems to have great sound qualities.

Had the same thought there Jeff.  I like the looks of that call and the material used to make it!

That is sharp!  Wamara???? I am stuck so far back in here that a good curly maple is exotic to me!  Where do you guys find this stuff...and I mean that with all due respect and amazement! ;D
