Well after waiting 8 LONGGG months, I was back in my treestand yesterday . I had a fantastic day in the woods . I saw a button buck and a doe that passed under me in the morning as well as 33 turkeys. Thirteen of them were mature Toms, they were the first group to work through. Unfortunately , turkey season is still two weeks away. I got to hear a lot of vocalization from those birds. In the afternoon I moved my climber to another section of woods and after 30 minutes, the deer started working by me. I had a total of 8 does and a young six point come by . That was like sitting in the restaurant pouring over the menu. Well I finally had a super old and mature doe come by and she decided to sniff the tree I was in trying to figure out what she was smelling . I took a couple of pics on my cell phone , of her head and the tree trunk ! As she moved away from my tree I released a goldtip arrow, fronted by a 3 blade Rage warhead. I put it right in the lungs and she ran a mere 40 feet , fell over and expired within less than a minute. I was hunting alone , in the hills of southern Ohio, so getting the deer , my treestand , bow and backpack , out of the woods was a real chore. She is all processed and I am taking the day off to recover ! Good luck to everyone this fall.

I am preparing for a bowhunt with Steve Mann in a few weeks here at home. I am putting a lot of effort into making sure he has a good hunt with me. I've been hanging stands and cameras for a couple weeks now, trying to put him in the hot spots ! So hopefully you will get to see Steve's big Ohio bruiser first !! After he heads home , it will be rut time here and that's when I get serious. It gets hard to do anything besides deer hunt during the first two weeks in November!! I do get more satisfaction out of seeing another hunter be successful especially when I am involved in it ! I'm headed back into the tree tomorrow ! Good luck everyone !
p.s. Marlin , sorry I am distracting Steve with deer hunting when he should be concentrating on turkeys , LOL. Take care !

Yeah punk send me a nice cell phone pic of your harvest. Bob kept tormenting me all day long with these pictures. I told him he'd better shoot something or else. Later on, he put one down.
Great job to put some meat in the freezer (not the couch)!
Now get out there and smoke a big one!
