Title: Dogwood
Post by: magnoliagamecalls on September 13, 2010, 09:44:39 PM
I had a co-worker who told me they cut a huge dogwood several years ago. They where using it to sit on while they sit around thier camp fire. He said if I wanted it I could have it. So I went and picked it up today here is what I found. We cut it up and will let it dry for a little while and see if it will make some calls.

Bill, if you check out the bark of the tree (best pic is the last one). You will notice that it is indeed Dog wood!

I havent either. At first when he told me I told him it was probably something else but he kept telling it was a dogwood and it bloomed every year. When I went looked at I still doubted but when I saw the bark I knew it was indeed one. He cut it down to put up a porch. Some of it was too far gone but I got several pieces that are solid.

Rocfish & Steve I should have plenty to go around if interested. *cheers*

Gary, that's nice stuff!   I just cut one daown and I was a bit dissappointed.  It didn't have much pink in it like they usually do.   That one is a good-un.  Congrats on a good find.

Live and Learn.......Cornus Nuttallii.....Pacific Dogwood. Grows to heights of 80 feet. Not considered the pink Dogwood but does flower. Cool stuff!   *up* *up* *up* *up*
