*up* ROTFLMBO ROTFLMBO.....I know more and more folks that are kicking the cholesterol meds for the fish oil, to find that the fish oil is helping just as well as the meds were. I take a statin(cholesterol meds) too West Augusta. I wish I didnt have to, but that would mean my family history would have been erased from the map long ago. *wha* I eat one little ole blue crab or oyster, and its an all out blood war in my vacular sytem! ;D And we all know that fried food is the best huh? I think you could fry up a dog *poo* and it would taste good.... *wha*. Maybe thats why fried food is bad for us. Just my 2 cents ;D

I sure do hope it's good for you, I've been taking Fish Oil for years! Its the only "supplement" that I take anymore. *up*

Yep, fried food is the best. But on a
vegitari I can't even say the darned word, diet, my cholesterol is at 280. With meds, I am at 130. Everyone on both sides of my family has it, so I will stay on the meds.

I wont take over the counter fish oil, the FDA does not test over the counter fish oil capsules. A research study done a few years ago found that most fish oil capsules were high in some toxins such as mercury. If you are going to take fish oil, be sure it is clearly labeled as "carrier free". So far as its benefits are concerned, the Omega-3 aspect is proven fact. The rest of the stories are more or less snake oil theories, without any scientific merit.
There is a prescription form of fish oil available, it is the only one rigorously tested by the FDA and backs its claims with scientific data. Its marketed under the name Lovaza. Mention it to your Physician next time you see him and they'll line you up.

eat flax and you don't have to worry about mercury, except you'll have to do a bunch of *poo*.
