Post by: Porter on August 23, 2010, 09:50:26 AM
So how realistic was that show?  I loved it... but I hate to admit... you gator hunters are C R A Z Y!!!!

I'm getting really addicted to the History Channel.  Stay glued to Ice Road Truckers, started watching American Pickers and Pawn Stars now too...

As crazy as it sounds, it looks like fun to me. Not to mention the money seems good. That one guy made 1400.00 for a days work.

Wonder what the other guy made... that 12'11" gator had to bring in some dough!!!  he had a boat full!

I think ol' boys dollar figure is greatly exaggerated.  With all the commercial farms in operation, gator meat doesnt sell for squat and hides are at record low prices.

You bring up a point that I was wondering about.  One of the guys mentioned he quit(s) his job during gator season but then there are only so many tags.  He did say they make as much during gator season as the rest of the year.  How many tags can you get?

If there was a lot of money, I'd assume more people would be in to it.  Too risky for me, but that looked different than a couple of guys I've talked too.  More like commercial gator hunting.  Or was this show maybe done some years ago when prices were up more?

Either way, I bet those swamps get more crowded now...
