Well its that time of year again, and believe it or not college football kicks off in only one month...
The CCO Pickem' contest has been going for three years now and due to limited participation I'm changing things up a bit this year.
In years past, the contest was a winner take all event. The winner has received calls, lanyards, etc. from many of the entrants. As the defending champ I assure you this is great, but to draw more interest lets make this a little more interesting. This years contest is set up to where everyone stands to come out with something.
This year all entrants are expected to provide something for the pot of winnings. When the entrant signs up, they will post/list what they are putting in the pot and hopefully a picture as well. Rather than a winner takes all contest, the first place winner will get the first choice of the prizes, the second place finisher the second choice, and so forth and so on..
There are only two rules, first... you have to enter something as a prize. And secondly, when the selection of prizes comes around you cannot choose your own contribution.
In short, all you have to do is enter and so long as everyone honors their commitments your guaranteed to walk away with something.
So lets kick this off right, my contribution is a box caller from multiple Gibson Award winning call maker Mike Lapp. I twisted Mike's arm and worse yet, I cant win it! :'(

The call features a Butternut box with contrasting Ebony inlays... paired with a Jatoba lid. As you'd expect, the call sounds phenomenal!

Thats the beauty of this years contest, you just put something in and you'll get something in return. For collectors, you dont have to put in a caller. I'm not a call maker, so last year I put in what Tampa is famous for and offered a selection of cigars and coffees. I also considered a gift card to Cabelas/Bass Pro, a donation to the charity of the winners choice, among others.... It should be fun, looking forward to it...

I'll post a link to the ESPN Pickem' site just as soon as its available. Last year it was around the middle of the month.
Once the link is posted, all you have to do is register for the game and let everyone know who you are and what your contributing.

The link is up on the first post, so go ahead and get joined.
After setting up an account on ESPN you can join the group titled "CCO/Osage Roost Pick em'".. After signing up please make a post indicating what you'll be offering. I'll do my best to keep a running tally of the prizes and update them frequently.
Remember fellas the only way this works if we all offer something and we all honor our commitments. I'd hate to hear someone got stiffed after they provided something as a prize.
The goal is to do the prize exchange immediately following the contest which ends the weekend prior to the conference championship games. So deciding to build a call after the contest is over is too late. Plus it wrecks the prize selection process..
Our collective goal should be having the calls ready for shipment as soon as possible.

Just to be clear guys, I dont expect everyone to have their offering before the game starts. However, we definitely need whatever it may be completed before the contest wraps up. Thats in 4 months, so you have plenty of time. So go ahead and sign up, and give us a description of what you'll be offering.

Couldn't resist!
You could make a light tent out of ripstop nylon fabric and put a small dot of hot glue on the frame of the call attaching it to some lightweight mono 2 or 4 lb test and suspend it inside the tent for a floating effect

The pot call I am going to contribute will be a glass over slate call with this under the glass.......The wood type will probably be walnut or cherry.....I will post some pictures when it's done

Guys I'm thrilled with the turnout. Were just a week away! Do me a favor and be sure to let us know who you are, as the names here on Osage Roost might not carry over to the Pickem' game page. Currently it appears we have more members on the Pickem' page than we do here on the site. I simply want to be sure everyone is in the know about how the game and prizes are being played out this year.

Hi Chad , I have tried three times to sign up but I ran into trouble each time. The board keeps telling me that there is already someone signed up with the same email address. This isn't possible! When I follow the link to have those email address accounts emailed to me, the site keeps saying they are having an error on that page. ???????????

The key to winning the contest is consistency, you dont have to win each week in order to win the contest. All it takes is one good weekend of upsets to turn the whole contest upside down. Placing in the top third each week is a sure strategy for victory.
