Well one good thing about being without Internet access is it forces me to spend quality time with my son. On Thursday, Mitchell wakes up and says... daddy I want a bow. Kind of took me back and I figured... what the heck. Dipped into my turkey call money and off to the bow shop we went.
Ended up with a Mission Menance and this boy can shoot. He's just shooting without a peep right now and they turned the bow down to 13lbs. I'm going to start turning it up slowly and let him work his way up. I think he's ready for a peep sight too. He's very consistent and has a very good anchor. I'm still working with him on being completely straight up and down, but he's getting there.
He's enjoying shooting bows with Dad and I hope to have him accurate enough so we can both harass some turkeys this fall!
Here he is taking aim and ready to smack the target!

Way to go bud. You have to keep the youth involved if there is to be any future for hunting. And sometimes you have to sacrifice a little and buy the kids some good gear . Congrats on raisin' them up right Porter !!!

Reminds me of when I got the Archery merit badge in Boy Scouts. That was back before there was a compound. The score had to be made with a long bow or recurve. I did'nt have a recurve, so it was done with a Ben Pearson long bow. 30lbs if I remember right. I think I shot all year that year before the scores were reached. Don't think I ever got another badge that I was more proud of on the way to Eagle.
Great Memories, Cherish them!!!
