First off let me say I'm not a callmaker and have little experience with wood but I do have a question.A few years ago I bought a glue up box call from a local callmaker it was made from plumb.I was wondering if any of the callmakers on here have ever thought of using this wood.The call had a very good sound high and raspy.It may be something someone would want to look into.Just a thought,Thanks.Todd

Yep, have 2 plum blanks drying and I know a box builder is working on one hope he shows it soon!

Actually very good lookin wood too.I gave mine away just the other day to a young boy for helping me around the house.He comes from a very troubled home,mother in jail and so on.He shows alot of intrest in hunting and the outdoors and was tickled to death with it.If it helps keep him out of trouble down the road it will be well worth it.Thanks for the reply

First off great job on trying to help that kid out. Positive reinforcement can make a huge difference!
I have 3 callers being built out of Plum. One is done and should be posted very soon. The other two should be later summer. The ones I've heard from it, rock RkLu

TC..Great thing you are doing helping the young man. every kid should be so luck as to have a hunter take an interest in their welfare. *up*
As to the plum wood for making callers....yes, it makes very good sounding callers IMO... I wish I could find more of it... it is one of my favorites

Plum does make a decent caller but it is harder and denser than most. I like it more for strikers than anything. Geez Charlie...ya didn't ASK ABOUT PLUM! Got some big chunks laying round somewhere. 8)

Lt...It never occured to me that you would have any Plum...be sure to bring some with you if you and Joe come down next Spring *cheers*
