Number one box call gents. She is cedar over sassafras. The cedar is from a local mill and I cut the sassafras from the yard. A dead tree that needed cut and something useful made of the wood. Best use I could think of.

Hooked is right. i have an eight foot 2x8 piece of walnut on the porch ready to be cut into. Some of it is wormy. Has a burl on one end too. Some one will get that piece for some pots!

Congrats, on your first call....May there be many more..... :)

I have to agree... looks wonderful for your first one! I'm a big fan of sasafrass too! I like how you added your own spice to it!
So spill the beans... did you have fun doing it or are you ready to pull your hair out?
-
Porter, not really pulling hair cause I don't have much up top. LOL! I love to play around with wood, just have to take what the Good Lord gives ya. I made some mistakes for sure. Learned a whole bunch in the process of building the call. Overall this is a low volume call. High pitched with good rasp on the bottom. Will she kill a turkey? Yes I say this little call could and will kill a few. I'm happy with what I got out of this one.
