This is something I've been intending to try for a long time. The idea comes from a gunstock carving book in part...carved ivory duck inlaid and scrimshawed just t to give the effect of feathers. Regular shallow relief carvings in between the ivory inlays. Some of the scrimshaw gets washed out a little by the flash.(http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/oo133/mhoulihan/IMG_0967.jpg)(http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/oo133/mhoulihan/IMG_0960.jpg)(http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/oo133/mhoulihan/IMG_0963.jpg)

Thanks for the comments, guys. I think we're all in the same boat. It's fun to get some feedback from other call makers because the wives have long since tired of seeing game calls. Now days, when I show my wife a call, she says, "oh, that's nice. Did you cut the lawn and call the gas company about the smell of gas?" ;)
One of these days I'll post some pictures of some turkey calls I've been laboring over (when I'm supposed to be cutting the grass).

Hi Steve,
That call is made from African Blackwood. My favorite wood to turn and checker.
Love your work, by the way.
Thanks to the other guys for the compliments here.
