Here is a pair of Texas Ebony Trumpets made for a forum member that he requested I post for him. This was a pretty special piece of Texas Ebony, it was cut with some of the bark still on it and had a lot of cream colored sapwood on one side, next to that a reddish color ranging to an olive color deeper in the heartwood. It took some studying to determine where to make the cuts to get the best yield and the coloration desired. It was difficult to capture the color accurately in the photograph, they are actually somewhat darker with more of an olive and brown tint, the contrasting grain is stunning with a lot of chatoyance.....
Hope this is what you were looking for buddy! Thanks for looking, Dave

Now that's a pair!!!

Both of those trumpets are simply beautiful Dave. Most Texas Ebony that I've seen is somewhat Chocalate Brown to Olive in appearance. Very nice wood and I'd say you made the right cuts to turn them into some turkey KILLERS. The owner will be pleased I'm sure.

Thanks guys! Ralph, the wood is actually more olive colored than the picture shows, some woods are hard to photograph in direct sunlight. I did try to color correct but there is only so much one can do.
