Title: The BCS is being shuffled.
Post by: West Augusta on June 11, 2010, 09:20:03 PM
Looks like Nebraska is headed to the Big 10 in 2011.
Rumors are that Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Oklahoma St. maybe heading
To the Pac 10. Texas A&M to the SEC and Boise St. To the Mountain West.

Football could be interesting.

They are killing longstanding traditional rivalries making Super conferences all for the money.
Maybe, we can at least come out of this with a championship tournament.

This is an absolute mess.  Big 12 was strong and now going to be (looks like at this moment) dissolved....  that's what I'm hearing here.  I'm not sure where Kansas will end up at.  No conference really wants them since they are so strong in basketball.

Colorado leaving isn't a big deal, Nebraska is pretty big...  but if Texas would stay.. it will work out.

I'm just surprised that the NCAA doesn't have control over the conferences...

The NCAA doesn't even have control over itself! They are a joke! Money rule. I was sad when the old Southwest Conference went bye bye and now this mess???

Rumors that I am hearing is that the Big East AND Big 12 will be gutted. Then the remnants of both combine. Could you imagine Kansas in the Big East basketball?

I'm hoping for the Big 12 to stay intact with the remaining members, but it's not looking very good right now...

No one wants Kansas at the moment because of their Basketball....  Too many schools are afraid of them being in their conference....

Send them to the Big East. It is the power basketball conference. Maybe, picking up Kansas and a few other teams the Big East can remain.

Texas is driving all this. They are looking to keep the remaining 10 teams in the Big 12 and work out a sweetheart television deal. If that happens then all is good. If UT, OU, Okie Lite, and TT go to the Pac 10 look for the SEC to pick up the Aggies and Hokies.

Texas is driving it now. The Big Televen started it all. This could get ugly before it is all over.  I'd say that the Big East and Big 12 are history.

what a joke.  this whole thing was about texas and them wanting more money.  texas was sick of the bottom feeders getting money that they felt should have been theirs.  texas wanted to be able to start their own network (again, to line their own pockets) and besically started all this talk of realignment.  when colorado saw what was going on, they jumped.  good move on their part, because if they hadn't, they wouldn't have been included in the pkg deal, that texas was going to try and put together for the pac-10.

texas went on to say that if nebraska left, the big 12 was over, done deal.  surprise, surprise, texas still hasn't left and now the big 12 president is trying to save the conference, by claiming they can get a tv deal, that will be comparable to the sec.  who knows what texas a&m is going to do, but in my opinion, they are the one's that hold the key to all of this.  if they bolt, then all of a sudden you have a 9 team conference.  not too appealing.

if a&m does stay and the big 12 is salvaged, it is going to be a watered down version and one that will no longer have a conference championship game.  greed by texas started this mess and i hope they get hosed from all this crap.

In reality, the teams that are left for the Big 12 (or maybe go back to the Big 8) are all mainly basketball teams.  Kansas had a few good football years, but almost all the remaining teams (if Texas leaves) are more basketball than anything.

Problem I keep hearing for Kansas is, no one wants them because of the basketball talent they get.  Too much competition.  Look what happened to the Conference USA years ago.  Only Memphis left in it and it's hurt them on the competitive nature in basketball.

I'm just tired of this.  I don't think Texas will get so much catering too in another conference.  That's really what ticked Nebraska.  Next 3 years the Conf football tourney was going to be in Dallas....

Go figure...

My biggest issue with this is that now all OU or UT has to do is beat one another and they basically have an automatic bid into the BCS title game. What will be funny is when an undefeated UT gets passed over for a 1 loss OSU and SEC team. That will make the conference implode on itself. A few years ago UT got left out and OU went. That was WITH a conference championship game. Just imagine how quick they'll get passed up now with a weak conference and no title game.

Like I said in my previous post, Texas parlayed this into a sweetheart TV deal for THEM. They will get their own network worth 25M a year and all the others will be stuck with what they have which is about 12M a year. In two more years we'll be right back at this. I hate Texas. This is the start of a playoff and super conferences in football. Before too long it will be like the NFL which will royally suck.

I can't get over how quick A&M tucked tail and did just as their daddy (UT) told them to do. It baffles my mind. Their one chance to get out of UT's shadow and try to be a respectable program just went down the drain when they agreed to stick with UT and the Big 12-2.
