I think Ive found a good deal on bow :-\ Its a Hoyt Razertec for $150. Its a friend thats selling it to me so of course, he knocked it down a bit for me. It has everything on it, so I think all I need to do is buy a release and some arrows. What do y'all think. Mike, our rut starts around the first week or so of Oct. I was sitting in my stand last year with a cross bow, my harness, and my green bathin' suit *wha* hot hot hot

9/15 cannot get her fast enough... I'll be chasing some birds again :) Forget the deer *peep* J/K... just not my cup of tea, but we have some big die hard bow hunters on here. I love shooting my bow, that's for sure!

I will upgrade someday, but the way this one shoots will make it hard to do. I have it sighted in from 10 to 50 yards. I never plan on shooting at a deer at 50 yards, but it is a lot of fun practicing at that range. *up* Come on deer season.

i'm sure at one point, that was a higher end bow and one that many people harvested animals with. it had the killin' power back then, just as it does today. i'd take a smooth, quiet, forgiving bow, over many of the speed bows out there today.

i'f you upgrade, i'd hold on to that switchback, i think it's the best bow mathews has made. i don't see the need for an upgrade, unless you are looking for more speed, which isn't needed. just think how much money you'd be saving, if you opted not to get the carbon matrix.

That Matrix looks sweet, but doesnt Mathews own the market as far as quiet bows go? Craig, you need to just get rid of that old ugly mathews and get the new Carbon. ROTFLMBO I know somebody that really would like that Mathews

well the upgrade would depend on the price...i have a good friend that has a local archery shop and i used to shoot on his staff...just havnt had the time with all the kids...i was shootin the mathews apex 7 but got rid of it to get my other half a bow...but seein as our opener this yr falls on my weddin day i think she just might get me one for a weddin gift and just dont know yet...lol..but you are deff right that switchback isnt goin anywhere that is the only bow i have ever kept more than a yr

i shot my fist ever asa pro am with that bow and placed 32nd outa 190 somthin...i just want another bow to get back into 3d comp again

Yep!! Hoyt makes a goodun! I have an Ultratec... nice bow! Shot comps for years!

Forget buying one! Build your own! LOL. I built a perry reflex several years ago and man is she sweet. She is made from hickory and has a sinew backing with wax coating to keep her dry. 50 pounds at 26 inches.

I really enjoy my bowhunting...just a little disappointed in the fact that I can't make it out to IL again this fall. Dang economy is a killer!! :-\ >!!

thanks gregg, but i shot him in january and didn't have to worry about the heat, gnats, skeeters etc. early bow season is rough. and although many swear that deer don't spook from the smell that a thermacell puts off, but if i can smell it, a deer can smell it. it certainly isn't a smell that deer are used to.

I agree - & sometimes we can utilize wind direction, height, & thermal drafts to work in our favor - but, all-in-all the hot season can be rough ... :-\
