Title: OK...Now That Turkey Season Is Over...
Post by: letinmfly on June 04, 2010, 12:56:32 PM
What keeps you occupied?  Lets hear it, what other hobbies and activities keep you busy?

I really enjoy fishing the local streams and rivers for trout and smallmouth bass.  I'll also take my bow out and start doing some shooting on the cooler days anyway.  As usual I'll be taking out my turkey calls and running them and picking the ones that I'll use come the fall season.

Tryin' to stay cool down South  ;D I stay in the rivers and sounds most nights flounder gigging in the summer months. Our hog season rolls out year round here in Georgia, so there is always time to have some fun with these guys. Our bow season starts in September, so there is always something to keep ya busy here.......plus my 4yr old son and wife *up*

Right now I'm focused on being a Dad and taking some college courses.  Thoughts of gobbles are never far from my mind though...

What to do now ??   Good question Lou ... *cool*

... well now, there's always ... hangin' out with Kelly & the dogs  --  doin’ a little inshore S/W fishing (well, maybe not down at the fishin' camp - thanks "BP & Obama"  >:()  --  & planting chufas at the camp for next turkey season  --  & crankin' out the bow(s) & gettin' ready for Oct 1 --  & the continuing renovations on the barn -- then there’s the fall plantin' for next deer season  --  & there’s probably a little stand work at the huntin' camp to be done  --  & sometime this year I’ve gotta’ be findin' a trailer/RV for next spring's "JRMHC" ("Mobile Huntin' Camp") 8)  --  & I'm sure there will be some yard work / plantin' at the house thrown in there somewhere ... :P ... & I'd bet that I've left out more than a few things ... :-\   ;D

Then it'll be the Fall 2010 Deer Season --- bow, rifle, & primitive huntin' for them whitetails ... 8)  ;D  8)  ---  & hopefully a trip for huntin' them fall turkeys this year ...  ;)
Then it'll be off to Nashville 2011 ... RkLu  RkLu  *cheers*
... & then it'll be back to chasin' them gobblers for the Spring 2011 Season ... *bowing*  --- & huntin' & hangin' out with both, ol' & new buddies ... 8) 8)

... & oh yeah --- there’s always the runnin', & playin', & practicin', & the gettin' of them new turkey callers ... ;)

Building calls is an all year thing but Now I have more time to work in the shop. I would have to say at this point it's MOWING GRASS. We're getting so much rain that my yard gets mowed and trimmed every 3-4 days . I can think of better things to spend my time on ! Gonna be camping in the smokies in a few weeks. I don't mean staying in a full hook-up koa campground. I still pack a tent in and sleep under the stars. We'll do a lot of hiking in the mtns. while we are there. Do you know that 95% of the visitors to the smokies never make it past Gatlinburg and the shopping. There are endless trails in Cades Cove, that's where you'll find me , my Daughter and my cameras in June. I might even throw in a trip up Mt Leconte, my FAVORITE hike!!
