Congrats on the new trumpet , I'm sure it sounds great. I can never get why a call maker would use delrin. Buffalo horn isn't that much more expensive.

That's pretty simple Joe, Delrin is just simply a better material in all respects, if the call was made exclusively for heavy duty field use. It's tougher, it's more stable, it drills much more precision and it is consistant. In short, it is everything that horn isn't, except charming for folk art or collector calls. Generally I use ivory, but this call is made to be tough as a shovel handle (because that's what it's made from). It's not for looks, but for performance and durability only. Some folks find that those qualities have a certain charm.

Just not a big fan of broom handle wood and delrin in a trumpet but to each his own.

Well, that's a shame Joe, because I've already decided to wrestle you to the ground, remove the money from your wallet and cram one in your mouth. ROTFLMBO

Hahahaha. ROTFLMBO.  I guess I better go and get one of them wallets with a chain on it. Like I said, I'm sure it sounds good, I just don't like the materials used. I'm obviously not with the general consensus and I'm sure you sold every one you made. Just stating my opinion. You should stick around and share some of your knowledge of trumpets.  You joined awhile ago and the only posts you made are pertaining to your calls. I'm sure these boys would learn a thing or two listening to you.

Well Cox, you're right, I've been here quite awhile and have made three previous post and two of them were pertaining to you...three including this one.  Looks like you just got here and already are showing 12 postings. If the evidence should bear out any facts, I think most will wind up listening to you.....like it or not.  Glad to see you've become so picky on materials....aren't you the guy behind the shiny plastic "green hornets"?  Nothing wrong with those either, but you might do a little self evaluation before surrendering to hypocrisy. Tis better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt. BTW...you referring to the men on this site as "these boys" is somewhat laughable, considering the only one I've spotted with maturity issues is you. Just try to out live all of us Joe....then you can be the countries only callmaker.

Sorry but I'm not Frank and I also meant no disrespect by using the term "boys", wasn't trying to belittle the people on this site. I also said I'm sure your trumpet sounded good and I meant that. You shouldn't jump to conclusions.

... well, as far as I'm concerned there's always "the puddin'", & sometimes that's just what it's all about ... ;)

... & here's "the proof is in" part from this mighty fine late season "ex-judge" of a turkey call - sure works for me, & thanks again to Mr. Frank Hegler ... 8) 8)

JR, I never doubted that it sounded good. I said that in my original post and was sincere about it. Just stated tht I had a difference of opinion on the materials, I see nowhere in the rules here where it says you have to agree. I even made it clear that obviously I wasn't in the general consensus.

Joe - I totally agree about the rules, & the different opinions that "we all have" on turkey calls - that's what makes the world go 'round - nbd ... ;)
... this is just a little thread about what I feel to be a very fine trumpet caller; that I feel fortunate to have received from Frank Hegler; & the gobbler that it was a big part of callin' in to the gun ... 8)
I'm by no means or stretch what I would consider a real trumpet player, but I am gettin' to the point where I can feel confident enough to hunt with 'em (but I guess that's a matter of opinion also ROTFLMBO ) ...
... I'm havin' a great time learnin' on 'em, & the couple of times that a trumpet has played a part in my takin' of a bird, well - that has been more than satisfyin' to me ...
... it's just a little thread about a very fine huntin' trumpet, from a very fine callmaker ... *cheers*

You're right Joe, I've been known to do that. I did it just two days ago when I got soaked outside and jumped to the conclusion it was raining.
