Title: Last Day
Post by: superstrutter on May 31, 2010, 08:11:19 AM
Today is the last day here in PA. The woods were quiet this morning. I was blessed to see wildlife that will be around for next hunting season! I saw two bucks that are gonna be gooduns, a doe with a fawn, and another doe that was ten foot from me walking by! I went up the hollow and over to the field, when I heard a cluck! When I looked up I saw a big old hen standing there and she wouldn't leave. Then I saw why, the grass all around her was moving! So I just stayed put, in a few minutes she settled down. She started walking back and forth, looking just as hard as she could! After a couple minutes, she walked right out in front of me, her neck cranked up and watching me like a hawk, when 13 little ones came scurrying around her in all directions! They were almost as big as quail, what a sight! Next years batch has already been born and they will continue to grow and learn the ways of the wild turkey! I'm sure we will cross paths next season!

Bob, I bet that was a great sight for sure. *dance* The last day I went out I had a hen fly into my decoys at 8 in the morning and 5 min. later 2 foxes came out in the field too. I think the foxes were looking for her nest. The thing a guy gets to see while hunting are priceless. *up*

Sounds like you had a great time..  *up* The last day of the season for me the farmer came across the field yelling at my decoys to chase them out of his corn. It was funny, I didn't let him know I was there until he quit yelling at them and figured out what was going on. I am sure he will figure out a way to get me back for that one.

I haven't seen any polts yet but soon they will hatch. I found a dead jake that looked to be killed by a coyote the last Sat. of the season.
