Well many (if not all) of you know that out in Kansas Daryl and I had a blast. We both missed (luckily mine was only once...cannot speak for Mr. Daryl himself though *peep* ), but had a heck of a time. Those birds were everywhere and if not for the rains ... I'm sure we'd both tagged out even with our misses.
Well I'm not one that likes to go on a hunt and not bring back some memorabilia. When I shot, for some reason this tree jumped out in front of my pattern and well you guess it.. the bird got away. Being the friend that Daryl was, he jumped up and gave me a play by play of how the bird was running up the hill like a road runner and *poo* as he was getting it. I guess paybacks are heck... funny part is, as we were walking across the field I was giving Daryl *poo* about his miss and how the last time I missed I shot a tree... Porter meet Karma :)
Well here's what was left of that tree that gave it's life to save that beautiful Rio... I made sure this twig rested in peace (can you say bonfire)... Daryl wouldn't let me let it go without some photos...
I didn't get to see how she tasted, but bless it's heart... dummie lived for another day. With hunters like Daryl and I, Catch and Release will soon catch on!

Oh and that farmer won't need to clean out that area... I cut him a pretty good path through those thickets ROTFLMBO

I for one am not buying this story one minute....No way that little "twig" blocked your entire shot....my theory is that the glare from all those osage calls (and maybe Daryl's copper pot too) blinded you and you couldn't see to shoot straight!! Come on now, time to fess up!!

I'm with the rest of the guys. That was fine shot. Anyone could have shot that big log that came in with that twig. You are a fine conservationist Mike.. *peep*
I for one will go back to Ks. knowing the bird population is strong and growing *cheers*

Tree?? No turkey could hide behind that! Looks like there was something else going on too. Maybe position of the sun or the rotation of the earth ROTFLMBO. Just had to say it. We all miss.

I 'm with Lee here---It had to be the Osage GLARE that caused ole Porter to not see that tree. I can't say a whole lot cause at least that twig a realitevely small---the tree I shot you could hide behind *aah* *aah*.

Guys, he gave me a hard time for missing...but he can use all the excuses he wants to...bottom line....HE MISSED THIS BIRD AT ABOUT 20 YARDS!!!!!!! End of story....and then tried to blame it on that tree... ROTFLMBO ROTFLMBO
