Title: Missouri Bird
Post by: Mark Rainbolt on April 30, 2010, 12:58:24 PM
I have been at it hard since the season opened. It has been one thing after another, set up wrong, the cows coming in, a bobcat, a coyote, you name it it has happened this season. Not alot of birds no gobbling to many hens and so on. Well I decided to sleep in this morning got up a 9:00 went outside to smoke a cigarette with my baby sadie (my dog). Was just about to walk in the house and a bird sounded off from the bottom field from the house. I listened and he was double and triple gobbling looking for a hen. I ran in the house got dressed put on 2 socks of diffrent colors, who cares there is a bird in the field!!!!! Grabbed my stuff and out the door running down the road relize(DUMMY YOU NEED A SHOTGUN TO KILL A BIRD) back to the house grab shotgun standing by the kitchen door. Back to hurrying down the road, get close to the woodline start crawling on my hands and knees to the edge of the field get setup in a small thicket bird is still gobbling hard he is just over the rise, pull out my boxcall 100 year old cherry over poplar make 2 very quiet yelps. Lay the call down lift the turkey slayer and dropped the hammer on him at 18 yds. Walked over to him to admire the creation made by our Lord and Savior, Thanked God for a Wonderful morning and said my prayer's. He was a 3 year old 25.2 pounds 10 inch beard 1 1/4 spurs. Thanks for listening to my story and looking at the picture. May the Lord Bless You All and be Safe.
