Title: Finally,,
Post by: drabndouble on April 25, 2010, 07:12:30 PM
found some birds that seemed to want to play the game . Hunted 4 days without having a bird answer a call . Day 5 I found them bunched up on the edge of private and public land . Gobbling strong . At least one mature bird and his jake followers . I gave one series of tree yelps on the XT HAVOC right after they hit the ground . Moment later I yelped on a scratchbox and put it away. The boss of the very vocal bunch was making ground toward my set up . The jakes went silent . The boss cut the distance in half and began walking up and down this little ridge top . I caught movement from the left and here comes a silent bird . Coming downhill. He looks my way and starts to cut across my front . When he stepped out of the saplings I squeezed the trigger .
 15 yards

Thank you gentlemen.
I do believe I have that Boss bird patterned. He's gonna be tough . The pressure on the public land is very high . Higher than I've seen it in years .
I may just leave him for next week , when we can hunt all day ,,,,,,,ain't decided yet. He won't stand for much calling ,,,I do know that much , and he prefers a little point ridge with a flat top to do his gobbling . He started gobbling at 11:00 . At 12:05 he was going strong . All of his gobbles came from the point.

Also found some backup plan birds ,,,,,,,but they got some hens to tend to yet . Two mature birds and a few jakes .
