Title: I love old wood

but when it comes with a story and history, it is something special. I guess I should start at the beginning. I sent one of my mini calls to a gentleman in SC and he phoned me when he received the call telling me how much he liked it. We talked for a while before he ask me if I could make him a call out of some old wood he had. My love of old wood had me saying "YES" before I knew the entire story. He went on to tell me this wood came off of a plantation where his father was born, then he went on to tell me how he had gotten it out of an old slave house.  I was getting a little excited and nevous about it then. The next day he had it in the mail and headed my way. After I received it, I sent him a message telling him I had it and I could make him what he wanted. Then the unexpected happened, he told me his 95 year old mother almost broke down in tears when she heard that I was going to make a call out of this wood.  I went on to ask him about his family and he explained how there is no pictures of his father, so they have a few things that remind them of him, with this wood beng one of them. I knew then that I had to do more then just make a call for this gentleman,  I had to make something for the entire family. The idea I came up with, wooden rings. My thinking, each family member could put a ring on a chain and wear it. I really hope that they enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them.
