Title: Tested some more chokes with my 870 JR
Post by: Porter on April 02, 2010, 12:42:41 PM: While out blasting away yesterday, I also shot some more of the Federal HW #7's out of 4 chokes from IC. They were .540 and .545 ported and non-ported chokes.

These were all shot at 40 yards (taped) and 82 degrees outside with 12mph winds. I think I've finally found the choke that will be sitting on my JR :)

Here are the numbers I got yesterday.

.545 Non Ported 147 hits
.545 Ported 121 Hits
.540 Non Ported 103 hits
.540 Ported 92 Hits

For grins, I fired one down the Rem SF choke that had been the leader out of this gun. I have gotten anywhere from the 180's to 200's with these shells out of the Rem choke on a good weather day!

Yesterday it could only muster 126 hits. Still a very good choke for the money, but I think it just got passed as the choke to be on my JR.

I was pretty shocked at how much the weather had made a difference on shooting. When the winds calm down, I'll be back out testing some more!

We tried to shoot some Saturday in that wind we werent getting anything like we thought so we gave it up for the day. Didint even get the 12's dirty since the 20's didnt shoot well.
Im waiting on a choke for a 500...and now for an 870 *cool*

Now you didn't tell me you shot an 870... I'm sure we can hook you up!

That 870 choke should be there in a few days!
