I think you should limit what guest can see.

Mike.

I strongly believe that this site should be viewed by registered members only.  If people want to know what's going on here than they need to be a member.  JMO

What does charter member mean?

From Wiki... "A charter member of an organization is an original member; that is, one who became a member when the organization received its charter."

I wouldn't have joined if I were unable to view as a guest first. With all of the internet scams these days, you never know what your getting yourself into.

All successful forums allow guest to view, not post obviously. I do believe that some categories/boards should be viewed only by registered members. JMHO

I like the idea of being a registered member to view the site.

Any opinion on switching it after your user base has started?  I thought about blocking guest access from seeing some boards, but we have nothing to hide here and hope guest join and interact!

That depends on what your goals/intentions are for the site.

I belong to several forums. Some insist on registration to view the forum and others don't.

I see nothing wrong for a guest to view but not be able to make comments. If he or she wants to be a part of the discussion, they should register.

Seems reasonable.  Sometimes folks need to stick their toes in the water before they jump in!

I like the idea of letting a guest sit back and look around, but not be allowed to post.. JMO
