Title: My new varmint gun... Weatherby Custom Mark V Euromark 416 Weatherby Magnum
Post by: wiltznucs on March 28, 2010, 07:02:57 PM
This may be better suited to the Blue Shoulder Club... Well after having a hard time with a few of their shotguns and waiting several months I've got a new toy!  Probably a bit much for a varmint gun!

I had the Weatherby Custom Shop put together a left handed Mark V Euromark for me.  The gun features a high grade walnut stock with ebony end caps and a diamond inlay in the butt cap.  The shop added iron sites, a demascened bolt and follower, plus additional checkering on the bolt knob.  I topped the gun with a Leupold VX-3 1.5-5 x 20 mm scope with a German #4 Recticle.  The scope is mounted with a Talley QD mounting system.

The factory group with 350 grain Barnes solids measured sub-MOA at 100 yds.  All this plus generating 6,500 ft/lbs of energy at the muzzle!

I havent had the chance to shoot it yet, but I'm taking out extra life insurance and purchasing a helmet before heading to the range. *wha*

Absolutely beautiful rifle and superb accuracy for such a big bore as the .416 Weatherby Magnum.  *up*

I've always said I will hunt dangerous game one day, when I do this will be the gun I'll take.  Between now and then I may take it hog hunting for giggles.

I did get the Accubrake, but I snapped the photos with it detached.  I love the benefits of the recoil reduction, but I must admit I find few things more repulsive than a muzzle brake on a sporting rifle.

Gotta love a good quality left-handed Weatherby rifle. That's a beauty for sure.
