Driving to work over the past month with all the snow on the ground I see this big ball 20 feet up this tree. The tree is only 6" across and on the side of the hill. I stp to check it out and and notice it's white oak and a nice size burl so of course I have to have it. After everything thawed and started turning nice (last week) I decide to stop and cut it down. Well to my surprise it is enormous. I could not get this into the back of my truck. After stopping 3 different times and trying various methods I knew I would have to cut it in half in order to get it in the truck.

After getting it home and off the truck I had to weigh both pieces so I brought out the bathroom scale. The smaller of the 2 pieces was semi easy to maneuver. It weightd a little over 230 lbs. While the other broke the scale when I put it on, and I'm guestimating it to be over 300 lbs. So heree is a picture of a 500 lb white oak burl. Wipe you chin guys it's not nice to drool. Now that was a find! *up* Cool piece of wood. Ya mite want to consider slabbing it down some more and then sealing again. That wild grain will do some strange things on the inside as it dries. And it will help the drying process alot.
