Others may disagree but that is one of the worst playing/sounding combinations of wood I have come across.  Never found one I liked anyways. :-\---Jason

A few years back I came across one made by Rohm Bros. and it sounded good and especially for a sawn and glued call.
The one Ed made sounds real good.  *cheers*

A purple heart lid on a walnut box is a "killer" combo. I use it on short boxes and it has a great sound . I am not a fan of working with purpleheart wood but it is awesome for lids !! It makes a screamin' caller !!

the reason i aske is that i did a half moon box in htat combo that sounded really good to me...it has a good high pitch with a nasty raspy break in it...just was curious if anyone that is a pro at boxes have done it...but i got one in the works for me...

I have never built one in that combo.  I do own one in that combo though.  Can't remember who built it.  A little too high pitched for my tastes....
