Thanks, y'all! Actually, it was the worst spring I've ever experienced as far as gobbling activity and I feel very fortunate to have killed 5 birds. I,m not a food plot, sit and wait, type hunter, so if they're not gobbling, it's tough.

And, Porter...I ain't slowing down, you better speed up!! I think I've got a few years head start on you with the 20ga stuff.  *bannana*

Mike now how am I ever going to catch up with you if you don't slow down!!!

For anyone that doesn't know, I'd say MKW is responsible more than anyone on getting people to start toting 20 gauges.  His posts and research is what made me realize a 20 was a great shooting gun.  I had one other guy on another forum that used a 20 mainly and then one day I bought one.

Now I'm as hooked on it as MKW.  More and more people are converting every day!

My poor 12 guage would like to say some bad words to you though ROTFLMBO  I nicknamed it, the Dust Collector ROTFLMBO

You can catch me if you go kill some of those retarded western turkeys!
 *peep* *peep*

 ROTFLMBO ROTFLMBO

Oh, thanks for the props. This coming spring will be my 6th spring hunting exclusively with the 20ga. Half of all the gobblers that I've ever killed have been with 20ga guns. Never do I feel handicapped.

I started out with Hevi 13 #6s, then switched to Nitro #7 hevis, and I'm hoping that I can get consistant patterns from the Federal Heavyweight #7s. If so, that's what I'll use next spring. Porter and some others have had some promising results with them. I'm waiting for weather around 60-70 degrees before I start testing. That's a little closer to the temps I hunt in, so it will be a more accurate picture of what I can expect.

I'm waiting on PG to build a 20 gauge choke for the Remington.  Need to call them again.  4 weeks ago it was sounding like they were going to do it and now it might be closer to Spring when I talked to them last....  I hope they do not miss an opportunity here.  I know Bill wants them built!

You still shoot the Single shot?  You know what has worked well out of the Remington...  that cheap RemSF for $10.  3 of us (deacon is the one of the others) are getting near Nitro like performance for about half the price.

I'll be amazed if any of the other chokes beat the Rem one, but boy it is fun.  What are you thinking count wise before you would decide to switch to them from Nitros?

I talked to Bill that other day. They are supposed to run some 20ga chokes next week. He said he would keep me informed of the progress. I believe that the Rem SF choke will be beaten as soon as other premium choke companies concentrate on building a choke for this shell. I'd probably not buy any more Nitros if I could get a good consistant, even 145 at 40. I suspect that won't be a problem and I'm hoping for better. I really like the idea of a harder hitting #7. After shooting literally hundreds of 20ga turkey loads, I have come to realize that you don't need super dense patterns for killing turkeys inside 40yrds.

I know Bill wants them ran and I keep calling to let them know I want one!!  Figured showing demand and maybe a supply will come out :)

I probably know more inside on the IC side, but I can see the issue both of them are in.  First the Federal shells need to make sure they are worthy of spending the funds on building a choke for the shell.  It would be terrible if Federal just pulled the plug on them :(

Even if one of the big manufacturers beats the Rem choke, I'm not sure it will be significantly and at a $10 pop... that choke might be known as the king of the Rem guns for Federal Flight controls.

Those darn flight controls are weird.  Some guns like less constriction some like more.  Consistency will be the key.  At least they are a big step up so far in consistency for me than the Hevi-13's.

And they've shot the best out of my 870 JR than any other shell!

Please keep us posted on the progress.  I'll not pester poor Laura that way  ROTFLMBO

My wife and I have been shooting 20 ga. Remingtons for six years (hers' is the 11-87 and mine the 870 SP). With the new Federal 7's there isnt a turkey around that can stand up to that combo at 40 yards. My best results have come from the Kicks .560.......have taken several at 60 yards.
