Title: More changes coming
Post by: Porter on February 09, 2010, 11:36:25 AM: I firmly believe in keeping everyone updated on what is being done (comes from my line of work here) to help combat what happened the last couple of days.

I've contacted several members and received their input on some of the changes I'm looking at doing.

Here they are and I'll also put what has been already implemented.

1. Change to require Admin Approval for accounts (I currently already have this implemented)
2. Block all known IP's from the ForumTeam spammers (list has been created and they are in the process of being added to the firewall rules)
3. Move over to Post Based groups. This will allow me to setup a rule that you are not able to send PMs until after a certain number of posts. I'm not doing this to hinder anyones use, but a handful of posts will be required to have PM capabilities. I know lots of people are lurkers and shy, but post a thumbs up or anything else. We are not picky :) I'll post what these post counts will be when I set this up.
4. Install some spam related software. I'm working on finding something that doesn't affect us day to day users. I'm wanting something that does it's job and doesn't block legit items at the same time!

I'm hoping the Admin approval will only be on for a day or two. I want to make certain no other PM's are sent out :)
