I turned on the lathe this morning for the first time in a few weeks, was going through withdrawals, and made the lanyard bead for this little beauty. I had set this one back, wasn't sure if I wanted to sell it or keep it, it is one of my favorites. As it turned out a good friend wanted her, so she is headed on out, I hope she serves you well my friend, and many memories are made! I may have posted this one before, but she is now complete, so this is for the archives, lol.

grasshopper I think you are starting to turn into a perfectionist. That's a beautiful trumpet there! I figured it would look nice the way you explained it, but that's some beautiful Texas Ebony!

Tom, I know you hated to see me go from the drill press to the lathe with these, but it sure has made a difference. I made my own reamer and it does a great job of burnishing the internals and keeping them consistent, resulting in much smoother transition.
Thanks guys!!

Man, that is one sweet trumpet!!!!!!! When I first saw a pic of this call that piece of wood really grabbed my attention, the buffalo horn is just pure bonus. Who ever could have talked you out of that???? ;) ;) I'm sure whoever gets it will take good care of it and treasure it like it should be. Hopefully they will even send you a pic of it next to a big old headless turkey-bird. *wha*

Thanks again guys, I appreciate the comments!
I use a secret formula for finishing my trumpets, lol, (sanding and to 1500 grit and buffing is the first and most important step) I had to find something other than lacquer for these to show the beauty of the wood and also get away from the plastic look some finishes give. I have found a formula I can make, used for gunstocks that works much better for me and my tastes, is durable and easily maintained.
