Title: Cane Yelpers

Just got another Cane Yelper from Smokey's Custom Calls. It has a medium to high pitch young hen sound. The one I got from him last year has a more mature hen sound. The box is an Alaskan Yellow Cedar/Walnut that was also made by Smokey.

Rickey.

Congrats on some fine calls.  Did Smokey change anything in the yelpers to change the sound?  I know his trumpets have a more mature sound than most other makers.

 RkLu  Congrats to Rickey! Smokey makes a great yelper!  I have the mate to your 2009 cane call... It's #1 3/2009 with the small hole in the bell end. I have made some memories with mine allready....It's a killer in quality and sound!

Never have run a cane yelper...What is the difference in sound from a trumpet for those who have run both?

King, As with a trumpet the sound varies depending on the maker of the call and the user. Smokeys yelpers are the real deal.
