Title: An old Tom Turpin Trick
Post by: Jake St. John on April 18, 2021, 09:40:36 AM
Have you been set up on that old stomper of a gobbler and he is being really stubborn.  Then your box call loses it’s grip between the tone board and paddle and you have to RECHALK!  The old original Tom Turpin Shortbox that I used had fine evenly spaced grooves in the bottom of the paddle.  He used a tool that I believe was the Nu-Trix file or thread cleaner pictured here.  The grooves do not effect the tone of the call at all.  I usually put them on very hard paddle and Shortbox combinations.  Give it a try!   May put that old Stomper in your bag.  Mr. E
