I am entering the tuning phase on this Desert Ebony over this Air dried black walnut Striblings and I was wondering what other callmakers considered the Most Rewarding part of making a Call?
-
It's when you find out someone wants something you make.

I'm not a call maker, but what I do know is that is a FINE looking call right there!!!!

Agreed Mike! Another fine call from the deep south and Mr. E's workbench! I find that when they finally come together and I hear the turkey "in my head" really coming out in the sound of the call does it for me. Before that .... and without that ..... its just a fancy paperweight! And it is a good happy thing to know that someone else hears what you hear ..... and likes it! ;D

The most rewarding part for me is a note back or a picture saying that the hunter called in a fine longbeard with the call that I made. Means even more if there was a child that took the bird. I used to plaster the wall of my office with turkey pictures sent to me by customers.

Like Steves response, no matter what, when a noise-maker brings a gobbler to the barrel, thats when ya feel the best as a maker

John, I would say after I first put a lid on a box call and it responds, but then when I start to tune for the very first time and run it again, the call boldly sings as I had hoped it would. More often than not this seems happens with a call that I least expected it to be good.
