This turkey hunting has been an obsession with me since 1990. I’ve got a cabinet full of pots and strikers. 15 or so good scratch boxes quite a few, yet never enough, trumpets, a few tubes, but no box that I say every hunt I’ve got to take this. I’ve got a few boxes but I’d like to find one that makes me say WOW! I’m considering an Albert Paul. Any recommendations?

Albert makes a very fine box call. There are plenty of box call makers out there. Time to wait and money may be an issue. The real good ones have a waiting list for their calls. Do some home work. Ask around, call a few and talk to them and hear there calls to determine the sound you like.

There are a LOT of great call makers out there. I would call a few. Talk to them. Let them determine what a turkey sounds like to you and build you a call that suits that sound. Don't order a call from call maker X and say you want these woods. You may not be happy with the results. They know how to make the sound you want.

Thank y’all for the advice! I’d like to go to unicoi next year, but may not be able to schedule it. You are both right, there’s no substitute for trying one out.

All the above is good information. Many callmakers will / should work with you to get a call you are happy with. But there is NO SUBSTITUTE for having it in hand and running it yourself. The way YOU run it is pretty important. JMO. :)
